 HB 42 Passes in the House!


On Wednesday, June 24, the Historic Preservation Incentive Program was passed by the House of Representatives by a 193-2 vote. 
 
This legislation will provide:
·   Grants of up to $15,000 for rehabilitation of historic residential buildings;
·    State tax credits of up to $500,000 for rehabilitation of historic commercial properties; and
·    Priority funding to properties located in Main Street and Elm Street areas, Enterprise Zones and Historic Districts.
 
The bill now heads to the Senate.  Preliminary meetings have occurred with a few Senators to lay the groundwork for this legislation to move through the Senate as smoothly as possible. 
 
If you have the opportunity to speak to any Senators, please express your interest in the bill.

Arts Alive! is a springtime festival and juried art and craft exhibition.

Properties of Merit is a reception to honor residents receiving special recogntion for enhancing their properties by popular vote.

Tree Lighting Festival is the frist Friday in December and is a community event with local stores offerning free cider, hot chocolate and cookies and Santa arriving by firetruck.
