New Trees Program Growing!

Sub Committee Chair: Carol Vybiral
The Green Up! Quakertown initiative is a partnership between the QA! Design Committee and Quakertown Borough. This program encourages planting trees in downtown Quakertown, to benefit from the scientific evidence that forestry tree cover is an important component in maintaining and improving quality of life in residential communities.
On April 10th of 2007, the borough of Quakertown received 91 new trees. These trees were secured through a grant called TreeVitalize. Committee members and other volunteers worked with Borough workers to mulch and plant the trees at entryway locations to the downtown, at the pool, in ball field and walking path areas, and other public areas. They are easily recognizable by the green mulching bags hanging from them.
In addition to the TreeVitalize program, the GreenUp committee has also been planting flower bulbs and supervises the care of the sidewalk planters along the downtown sidewalks.
