This April 21 through August 10, 2012, the Uffizi Exhibit is coming to the Michener Art Museum, one of four stops in the United States. This exhibit is currently on display in Florida. After it's stay here in Bucks County, it heads west. This exhibit has the potential to draw visitors from Boston, NY, DC and beyond. This is a VERY RARE EXHIBIT of work that has never left Europe!
The work of major Renaissance artists will travel to the Michener Art Museum in the exhibition Offering of the Angels: Treasures from the Uffizi Gallery. Drawn from the holdings of the incomparable Uffizi Gallery in Florence and curated by its Director, Antonio Natali, the exhibition will feature examples of art created between the 15th and 17th Centuries. Oil paintings by legendary artists such as Botticelli, Titian, Tintoretto, Parmigianino, Cristofano, and their contemporaries will be on display along with two tapestries from the same period. 45 master works will depict scenes from the Old and New Testaments. Organized by Amici degli Uffizi of Florence, Italy, the exhibition has traveled extensively across Europe and will be hosted by a select group of museums in the United States.

Your support and participation allowed Quakertown Alive! to accomplish the following highlights this year:
· 11,000 residents and visitors attended Arts Alive, Autumn Alive, and the Holiday Tree Lighting
· Donations enabled Quakertown Alive! to remain a stable Main Streets Organization to secure matching state funds for marketing grants and establishing additional Façade Grants to preserve and restore downtown commercial structures.
· We continued to host 6 events in 2011, including the debut of the Garden Affaires garden tour and the Grapes ’N Hops Brewfest, the return of the Christmas House Tour with homes already committed to be involved for the holiday season 2012. Properties of Merit will return for its sixth successful year in 2012.
This year held the beginning of some exciting projects, the largest of which was the Streetscapes Project Phase 1 that was started in the spring and completed in November. This project included antique lighting, a fountain, and additional park enhancements for the downtown business district . QNB and St. Luke’s sponsored the new banners that were purchased to showcase the new antique street lamps, which will be on display in January. Our Economic Revitalization Committee will continue to work with the Borough’s Economic Steering Committee to promote the committees accomplishments this year which include new marketing brochures, business incentives, LERTA program and the Historic Nomination designation. Quakertown Alive! also hosted a successful business merchant meeting with strong support for the continuation of the marketing efforts by Quakertown Alive!.
As we seek to revitalize Quakertown’s economy, your support plays a critical role in our continued success. Quakertown Alive! needs to demonstrate private support and participation of local business in order to secure matching funds from state sources. Please consider supporting Quakertown Alive! by making a $100 or more contribution today. Your donation check can be mailed to our office at 312 West Broad Street, Quakertown, PA 18951.
